There’s so much to the method of storytelling, which is one of the things I love about it. I like to keep updated with what people from different industries are creating and adapting, especially with creative approaches to our work.
I heard about Jonathan Corum’s speech and found his notes written up soon after. This idea, of designing for someone else, really stood out to me. How often we find ourselves repeating the findings of previous studies, or talking about our last project in a particular community, or in other ways repeating things within our echo chamber? How often are we actively engaging with others who don’t see the world as we do, and designing projects to get their support?
So why bother going through this process? Why imagine an audience?
Because it’s very hard to design for someone else. Once you start to research and understand something and have it fresh in your mind, you tend to produce graphics that sum up your own understanding.
